What Is Juvéderm® Volux™?

JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ XC is a robust JUVÉDERM® filler and structural gel for those with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition.

What Does Volux Do?

VOLUX™ XC is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, or HA. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in our bodies that can hold up to a thousand times its weight in water. Targeting specific areas of the face with JUVÉDERM® treatments, which are made with modified hyaluronic acid, will temporarily add volume to those areas. The main difference — besides where you’re injecting VOLUX™ XC, it has more structure, cohesivity, and lift capacity.

How Does It Work?

The hyaluronic acid filler is typically injected deep onto the bone along the jawline and chin to provide more definition. The filler provides structural support and contours the jaw to look more lifted. While it will depend on your specific face shape and how much your provider suggests is to be injected, you’ll notice a difference with even just one syringe.

FAQ

Does VOLUX™ XC hurt?

Certain areas (which are full of nerve endings), can feel like a pinch or a bee sting, while others are less sensitive. JUVÉDERM® products with “XC” in the name are formulated with lidocaine, a temporary numbing local anesthetic, to help reduce discomfort. Plus, many providers will offer to apply a topical numbing cream to the area before your treatment to help reduce injection pain, and ice afterward to help soothe. During your consultation, ask your provider about your numbing options.

When will I see the results of my VOLUX™ XC treatment?

One of the best aspects of injectable filler is that results can be seen immediately! You will likely also observe some swelling, redness, and bruising, but this usually fades over time after your treatment to reveal your true results.

Are the results from VOLUX™ XC permanent?

Nope, this is a temporary treatment—once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to achieve those results again.

How long do results last?

JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ XC, a filler that helps to improve the jawline, lasts up to 1 year with optimal treatment.

What should I do (or not do) after treatment with VOLUX™ XC?

For the first 12 hours after treatment, avoid applying makeup. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid alcoholic beverages, any strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling and/or itching at the injection site). (So, post-procedure, stick to TV-watching marathons instead of 26.2-mile runs!) Consult with your provider for further aftercare guidance.

Who is VOLUX™ XC for?

JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ XC injectable gel is for deep injection to improve moderate to severe loss of jawline definition in adults over the age of 21.
Are there any reasons why I should not receive any JUVÉDERM® formulation?

Are there any reasons why I should not receive any JUVÉDERM® formulation?

Do not use these products if you have a history of multiple severe allergies or severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), if you are allergic to lidocaine or the Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in these products, or if you have had previous allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid fillers.

What warnings should my doctor advise me about?

One of the risks of using dermal fillers is the unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of the skin. Most of these events are irreversible.

If you have changes in your vision, signs of a stroke (including sudden difficulty speaking, numbness or weakness in your face, arms or legs, difficulty walking, face drooping, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion), white appearance of the skin, or unusual pain during or shortly after treatment, you should notify your health care practitioner immediately.

The use of dermal fillers where skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infections are present should be postponed, as this may delay healing or make skin problems worse.

The effectiveness of removal of any dermal filler has not been studied.

What are the possible side effects of treatment?

The most commonly reported side effects with JUVÉDERM® injectable gels were redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, discoloration, and itching. For JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC, dryness was also reported.

These side effects are consistent with other facial injection procedures and most will resolve within 30 days. Your doctor may choose to treat side effects persisting longer with antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase (an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid).

As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
