Acne Treatments

Overview

Acne, which predominantly occurs on the face, chest and back, occurs when sebum is unable to leave the skin. This promoted the growth of bacteria below the surface of the skin, which can cause inflammation and scarring if the inflamed area ruptures. The Nordlys SWT and laser system reduce the blood supply to the sebaceous gland in the affected area, which slows the production of sebum and promotes faster healing of acne.

  • Which parts of the body can be treated?

    +

The face, chest and back can be effectively treated for acne by the Nordlys system.

  • How does the treatment work?

    +

The Nordlys system directs pulses of light into the epidermis, or top layer of the skin within which acne forms. The light is then absorbed by hemoglobin in the blood vessels, which supply the sebaceous glands. Once hemoglobin converts the light energy into heat, the walls of these blood vessels are eliminated, cutting off supply of blood to the sebaceous glands.

  • I take medication for acne. Can I have this treatment?

    +

The Nordlys system can be used in combination with medication, as well as its replacement. The use of Nordlys laser treatment following the use of prescription medication has been clinically proven to facilitate the faster healing process of acne.

  • Is it safe?

    +

Yes. The light produced by the system is controlled to ensure that the right amount of energy is used and only the targeted tissue is affected.
