5 Winter Skin Care Tips From Head to Toe

We may be enjoying a warm December, but the drop in humidity may be wreaking havoc on your skin. Dryness can make your skin look and feel sickly, which is never in style. The tips below will help you adjust your skin care routine to better protect and nourish your skin throughout the season.

1. Scalp. Yep, we have skin under all that hair. Using oils such as coconut, olive or grapeseed oil on your scalp can help it stay moisturized. Rub just a tablespoon of lukewarm (not hot!) oil into your scalp every other week and wash out thoroughly after leaving it in for about 15 minutes.

2. Eyes. The skin under your eyes is especially thin and sensitive. To keep it moisturized and healthy, use a balm or ointment specifically designed for the area such as Neocutis Lumiere Bio-Restorative Eye Cream. You can pick some up right form our office!

3. Lips. No one likes chapped lips, so a good chapstick or lip balm is a must – but you already knew that. What you may have not known is that your toothbrush is a great exfoliator for your lips. Use it when needed to gently scrub away dead skin and then finish up with your favorite lip balm to lock in the moisture. My favorite? Baby Lips by Maybelline. Great protection with fun tints!

4. Face. We all know to moisturize our body, but we often forget about the face. Using tinted moisturizers can be a great way to maintain a lively color and prevent your face from painfully getting chapped. We recommend Neocutis Journee Bio – Restorative Skin Cream with SPF 30, which is why we carry it in our office.

5. Legs. Winter is a great time to get hair removal done on your legs as you it easier to avoid exposure to the sun. We are proud to carry Nordlys, the painless laser solution to hair removal. To prevent the skin on your legs from drying, moisturizing daily is an important part of winter skin care routine.

An important skin care tip to remember year-round is to apply sunscreen, especially on your face. Although we don’t feel its heat as much in the winter, the sun is glaring down on us and sun protection is necessary.
